The Anthem Part Two. An absolute time portal. From that point on it was 90 minutes of reliving my youth. People have those bands that take them back in time or hit at that core memory spot of life. That's Blink for me. Cheshire Cat: Canora. Dude Ranch: Peguis. Enema: RGACC. TOYPAJ: Cardeager. Untitled: Winter Classic. Neighborhoods: Inverness. Dogs Eating Dogs: IG. California: Penticton. Nine: Vegas.
None of the above would mean anything to anyone other than me; that's the point. Blink is that band for me. Blink is the soundtrack to my soul. My all-time favourite for many reasons.
Seeing Tom reunited with Mark and Travis in #yyc and hearing the enthusiasm in the collective crowd, it was clear I am just one of many who feel the same thing.
The band wove through a masterclass setlist, spanning the various eras of their catalogue. Countless moments stand out, but none more than Mark's heartfelt monologue about feeling the pressure of life, eluding to 'Adam's Song', followed by the inspiring ascent of 'conquering' cancer; he'd survived.
Travis, like a super human or sentinal, played an entire song, perhaps twice ;) - while blindfolded. Precision 100.
Tom confirmed 'Aliens Exist' and that we can still enjoy a lighthearted laugh in today's day and age. #tothestars
Seeing them together again, after all this time, adds another block to my core memories, and likely that of another ~15,000 Calgarians.
A couple days late, a few bucks short, I wrote the report.
